Uh I didn't know the devs were fired :O That's serious. The real challenge is actually having fun despite all the glitches and ridiculous micromanagement efforts.Īhahah true, I feel like the new tech tree is just taking the space from other more precious trees. What would be the challenge, then? Well, maybe a map with extra long and frequent dust storms, where all the resources are scattered around in small quantities.Īs to the infamous B&B, the devs were fired before they could even fix all the bugs, there was no time for extras. Besides, it simply adds a new mode of transportation. :) Martian Express is just a small DLC (perhaps even too small to be worth the price), so I doubt that there would be challenges for it. Choose a space agency for resources and financial support before determining a location for your colony. Surviving Mars is a sci-fi city builder all about colonizing Mars and surviving the process. Research trees, breakthroughs, other anomalies, general amount of resources and disaster levels should remain the same but I didn't dig so deep : / To me seems there is a low chance to trigger a variable each time a new game starts or a restart map is used, and then the variable won't trigger back until next time giving you only the alternative layout for a while. It is a matter that drove me crazy for quite a while and it is still there, but in short there are maps with a unique layout, maps with a layout where only deposits and anomalies are shifted around, and maps with a layout where deposits and anomalies are shifted around and terrain is locally rotated (not the map but craters, mountains and other "decorations") : / There is only one thing in need to be changed, some maps have an alternative version. I didn't read your detailed walkthrough anyway as I have done them already. Great advice, especially about the "don't farm" one that is a must in those very short ones. But I tried them just once while aiming to the Perfect deadline as a "solo" challenge, not as a "leaderboard" challenge : )Īnd as I don't own Space Race I'm out of some challenges (and part of your strategy) but I think the Earthbound, that you made in 1 Sol, under "Completed by" should label "many" by default : D (Of course I could start one, buying only Probes, reveal the whole map, and then start it again with a proper - only one I did better than you (of the few I already completed) is Tech Boost, in 13 Sols. But now that I have completed all short ones, it would be nice to know some hints. I think I would get bored of trying and abandon that challenge and just go to a new one. I guess it's my personal preference that I would not like to start a Challenge all over and over and realize I failed at Sol 100, just because I could have chosen a much better spot. Then, you can try to find solutions and invent strategies, or ask here on the forums. So, you can read a general tips&hints guide, or earn the experience the usual way, by playing. For a veteran, it may be something too obvious to even mention. Useful tips is a bit too broad of a definition. A couple of times, I even (semi)-abandoned it, and moved elsewhere.Ģ. But I get your point, it may be super tedious to expand out of a bad one. Adapting to a less favorable starting plot is also part of the challenge. Cos with those long Challenges, I'm usually curious about the best starting tiles, and maybe some useful tips or game mechanics/bugs I'm not aware of, and not a step-by-step walkthrough.
